I’ve been using my Bellabee for the past five years. This is my second Bellabee as also had an Elf Emmet which was the first version of the Bellabee
Over on the Bellabee Reviews page are more reviews from others who have been using the Bellabee and they are finding real benefits too.
Keep in mind that we are all different and my experience may not mirror yours exactly, but my goal is to demonstrate how I have found using the Bellabee over the past five years.
What exactly is Bellabee?
In order to answer that, first, we need to know a bit about how the brain works. Brainwaves can be measured in cycles per second or Hz. A low Hz occurs when there is little brain activity such as while we are sleeping, and a high Hz occurs when our brains are busy concentrating.
So the Bellabee sends different signals (as measured in Hz) to better match the brain activity that we would like to experience. As you continue to use the Bellabee it is teaching the brain about these new patterns.
How did I hear about Bellabee?
I first heard about the earlier version of the Bellabee (which was called the Elf Emmett) around 6 years ago when a friend of mine gave one to her daughter who was stressed because of her upcoming exams.
She was amazed at how her stress just faded in around 30 minutes by just wearing a band on her head.
After getting over her stress, she then went onto using the Concentrate mode, and she ended up passing her exams – in fact, she did really well. My friend was seriously considering purchasing another one as she wanted to use it herself but her daughter kept taking it!
At that time I was going through a difficult time myself, where I was experiencing a lot of stress, so I bought one too. I found myself using the Bellabee on most days.
The modes I use regularly are:
- Improve Sleep
- Concentrate
- Anti-Anxiety
- Anti-Stress
- Meditation
I’ve also created a CUSTOM setting for Tinnitus.
As I hate taking any kind of medication I loved that I got an almost-instant result without having to take any kind of drug. In fact, 5 years on and I have still not taken any medication. I’ve recently heard someone call it their “little magic gadget”!
So what does it feel like to wear? When I used it on the Anti-stress mode, at first I didn’t notice too much difference, but then after about 30 minutes, I found myself yawning, and did feel more relaxed. When this happened the first time, I wasn’t sure if it was the Bellabee or not, but when it happened the following day I was starting to think that it might really be helping me.
Does the Bellabee hurt when you wear it?
Most of the time you don’t feel anything at all while it is working. Some people start to get a headache after a couple of hours of use, which is an indication to stop for that day.
Bellabee helps with meditation
More recently I have been using the Bellabee while meditating. That experience was more noticeable in terms of knowing it was working. I was listening to the sound of silence and trying just to focus on birds in the background. After a few minutes, I felt something that I can only describe as a “thunk”. It was like going deeper into the meditation without someone suggesting you do so. Then it happened again. That meditation lasted for just 20 minutes, but I felt the benefit as if I had been meditating for an hour.
It’s enough to help you chill out
I’m one of those people who is constantly on alert even though I feel like I am relaxed, so I found the Bellabee great to help me chill out.
I wasn’t stressed enough at the time to need to seek professional help, so the Bellabee was enough for me at that time. If you do need help then the Bellabee can work hand in glove with your treatment provider.
Neurofeedback Specialists can see what your brain is doing while you are using the Bellabee. They can spot the Bellabee working in as little as 3 minutes.
Some people are reporting that they don’t need to have as many appointments with treatment providers like Psychiatrists as they use the Bellabee each day, and there are many studies that show PEMF devices actually work.
Why consider using Bellabee?
You should consider using a Bellabee if you want a gentle and cheap alternative to anti-stress meds or needing lots of coffee to work through challenging assignments. Bellabee can also help you get to sleep, and who doesn’t need help with that from time to time?
How does it work?
Bellabee works by emitting electromagnetic pulses in a headband that is connected to your smartphone or tablet. Bellabee uses energy from your smartphone similar to how headphones work when you listen to music.
It’s like putting an earphone at the back of the head and “listen” to various pulses.
Most brain abnormalities can be linked to incorrect frequencies or brain patterns, whether it is anxiety, depression, or autism. In some cases, the brain waves are too high, while others are too low.
Bellabee works on the same principle as the brain’s natural frequencies, supporting the brain to get a better functioning rhythm. Bellabee uses Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF ) to create the right amount of frequency.
The Bellabee is designed to give super low wavelengths to your brain. It has a load of different modes from Meditation to Anti-Stress. It also has applications to help with brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Now I don’t have those particular issues, so I haven’t tested those ones personally.
How long do you have to use it?
It’s recommended you use the Bellabee each day for at least three weeks. Most programs run for one hour, but you can use it for many hours a day as long as you are feeling the benefit.
Clinical tests have shown that it can detect changes in as little as 3 minutes.
If I’m using the Concentrate mode while writing articles, I will keep it on for the whole time I am writing.
For the sleep mode, I put it on for an hour before bed, and if I am stressed, I use Anti-Stress for 30 minutes, followed by Sleep mode.
When would you stop using it?
If you started getting a headache, I would stop wearing it. Try it again the next day just for 15 minutes, and increase the time up to an hour over the next few days.
Also if you just feel like you have had enough, follow that intuition and take it off – and try it again the next day.
Is Bellabee good value for money?
Overall I think it’s really good value for money – especially as I was considering buying a NuCalm device for around $5,000. The Bellabee is usually priced at $199, and is available via this site for $159. Let’s face it, if you were to pay for professional help, you would pay that much for one-two sessions alone!
Does it drain your phone battery?
I have an iPhone 7 and haven’t found it a drain on my battery. Of course, it uses some power, but I can run the Bellabee apps for well over 6 hours without needing to re-charge. I have tried running it overnight while sleeping as well and the battery didn’t go flat. But I now prefer to use the Sleep setting before going to sleep so I can re-charge my phone overnight.
I had an old iPhone (an iPhone 5). I was able to get that set up so it just has the two Bellabee apps on it, so now I use the Bellabee on my old phone. When you set up an old phone it does not need a SIM card, and can just use your wifi to connect to the Store to download the Bellabee apps.
